76 is a historical fiction drama film following the Nigeria civil war, the story follows a young officer, Joseph Dewa from the middle belt who is happily married to Suzy, a student from the south-eastern region.
However their relationship is strained by military postings and her family who complained of not wanting to have anything to do with Joseph Dewa’s people.
This intensifies when Gomos(Joseph’s best friend) and superior officer, entraps him into being falsely accused of participating in the failed 1976 coup led by lieutenant colonel Bukar Suka Dimka.

Joseph Dewa is imprisoned and interrogated while his heavily pregnant wife, Suzy fights to prove his innocence against a backdrop of terror and betrayal.
76 is told from the dual viewpoint of the soldier and his wife, emphasizing the emotional suffering of military families.
76 is the one every Nigerian whose family lived through military rule will watch in silence because we all know someone who didn’t come back and also reminds us in Nigeria that the coup is never just on tv, it is in your house, on your wife, in your unborn child’s birth certificate.
