Strained is a family drama centred on the bitter rift between a new mother, Ebere and her estranged mother, Abigail.
Ebere resents her mother for abandoning her thirteen years ago. Abigail left Ebere and her abusive husband to save her own life, but Ebere grew up without a mother’s support, facing a toxic upbringing and harboring deep bitterness.

Now married to Ozo and struggling to care for her newborn baby, Ebere is left alone when her husband travels for a work trip. At Ozo’s insistence, she reluctantly reaches out to Abigail to help with the baby. Abigail’s arrival triggers a highly charged and emotional reunion. Ebere treats her mother with resentment and hostility, viewing her as an adversary rather than a pillar of support.
The two women clash over traditional child-rearing methods while navigating their painful history.
