The Best and the worst of 2021 movies – The Post- Covid Year
Just when we thought we had seen it all in 2020 and that Covid would be gone, it appears to seem like it’s kind of here to stay, like seriously the entire 2021 again saw varied lock downs and restrictions to movies making it quiet difficult for producers to produce a lot of films and even worse for the crowd to rush to the cinemas, well we all have to make the best of the year and not allow it go down the drain, so here are a few of best and worse movies from both cinema and Netflix, let’s see how 2021 went down.
I would love to start with my best 5 movies of 2021 in the cinema and Netflix, first on my list I loved “White Tiger” the Indian movie about the young man that broke the chain of poverty and moved to a higher cast by doing the unbelievable, well it’s called life, I totally enjoyed it, next on my list is the fantastic action movie called “Nobody” they totally killed it for me and left me so excited. I totally enjoyed the new series of 2021 that got the entire world talking called “Squid Game” it went on to become the most watched series ever on Netflix, it had so many crazy lessons of life, I guess we might be expecting “2” soon. Moving on to the next I enjoyed “007 SkyFall” I kind of loved the action, twist and new infusion, I guess we will be seeing more faces soon, although they were loads of mixed feelings, I still love 007 series, finally towards the end of the year was my favorite “King Richard” a very sweet and interesting movie about the Serena William’s family and how they made it to the top, the movie really touched my heart and made me believe that nothing is impossible. A few extra that were good but didn’t make it to my top 5 were “Markman, Who killed Sara, Wrath of a Man, Spiral and Black widow”.
Let’s quickly touch on my worse foreign movies of 2021 first on my list was “Caught by a Wave”, I am all Girls, and Sweet girls, the storyline just didn’t cut it for me hence my choosing these 3.
So moving on to NollyWood they were some fantastic movies I really enjoyed in 2021, first on my list is “Breaded Life” I absolutely loved the storyline, the twist and the amazing end, thinking about it and I am still smiling, the movie had loads of lessons, and I am sure everyone enjoyed it. Next on my list is “ The Return of the King of the boys 2”, the movie left everyone talking and we all loved how Oba – Shola Shobowale finished the entire series on Netflix, I really couldn’t get over it as I even saw the series twice, despite always struggling with series myself. If you didn’t catch “Bad Comments” that feature Jim Iyke then you really missed a good movie, I really enjoyed it, they did a good job and we learnt loads of lessons. I also enjoyed “Smart Money Woman Series” by Arese Ugwu, the movie passed on loads of lessons on financial literacy and personal finance. Last on my list was the simple sweet movies based on a true life story called “Ayinla” a man with a great future only to allow anger destroy it all. Let’s quickly touch on the Nigerian movies that didn’t cut it for me based don bad story lines, firstly we have “Prophetess” which to me didn’t have a direction, then Ponzi Scheme”, I just didn’t get the aim of the movie, lastly Bad Boys and the Brides maid”
I must say that 2021 was another interesting year despite the issues with Covid we still had some nice movies released, the cinema industry suffered a lot as they had to even close some branches and didn’t make as much revenue as projected, I am hoping that 2022 will bring better revenue and expansion for the industry. I actually thought we were going to see the end of Covid and things will return back to normal, but I guess I was totally wrong, I guess we have to watch and pray that things go back to normal soon. Well I am extremely hopeful that 2022 will be an exciting and interesting year for us all, I look forward to seeing fantastic movies this year and bringing you all the reviews and recommendations as they unfold. Thank you so much once again for always checking out my reviews, Happy New year and welcome to a brand new 2022.
Happy New year all.
