Encanto is a heartfelt musical animated film that celebrates family, identity, and the pressure of expectations, set in a magical village hidden deep within the mountains of Colombia.
The story centers on the Madrigal family, a remarkable family blessed with extraordinary magical abilities. Each member of the family possesses a unique gift that helps sustain their enchanted home and community. One family member can control the weather, another has super strength, while others can heal injuries, communicate with animals, or see visions of the future.

The magic that protects their home resides within Casita, the living house that responds to the family’s emotions and movements. The miracle began years earlier when the family’s matriarch, Abuela Alma, lost her husband while fleeing danger. In that moment of sacrifice, a magical candle created the protective valley and gifted the family their powers.
However, one member of the family stands apart Mirabel Madrigal, the only Madrigal who never received a magical power. While she loves her family deeply, Mirabel often feels overlooked and inadequate compared to her gifted relatives.

Despite her lack of magic, Mirabel remains determined to prove her worth. One day she begins to notice strange cracks forming in the walls of Casita and senses that the family’s magic is weakening. When she tries to warn the others, they dismiss her concerns, believing the miracle that sustains their lives could never fail.
Refusing to give up, Mirabel begins investigating the mystery behind the fading magic. Her search leads her to long-hidden family tensions and emotional burdens that have quietly fractured the Madrigal household. Each family member struggles under the weight of expectations imposed by Abuela’s desire to preserve perfection.

Mirabel eventually discovers that the miracle itself is not failing because of external danger, but because the family has lost sight of what truly matters love, acceptance, and emotional honesty.
Through courage, empathy, and determination, Mirabel helps the family confront their fears, heal old wounds, and rebuild their relationships. In doing so, she becomes the very heart of the miracle they believed she lacked.
By the film’s conclusion, the Madrigal family learns that their greatest strength was never their magical abilities, but the love and unity that bind them together.
