Movie Review – CRAWL
There was something really creepy about this new movie called “CRAWL”. Maybe from the title I should have known that.
If you enjoyed the movie of sharks called “The Meg” of 2018, you might enjoy this new movie “Crawl”, with loads of alligators jumping out and feasting on humans. It was a very simple basic movie with a basic storyline of a lady who ran back to save her dad from a very terrible hurricane, despite all warnings not to. I loved how they told the story and the twist about the encouraging end they created.
The movie was directed by Alexandre Aja and written by Alexandre Aja, and Michael Rasmussen (III). A horror, mystery movie which was about 87 minutes long. It kept everyone on their toes from start to finish.
As described earlier the storyline was basic, but I totally love how they explained this movie and made it relatable. I love the graphics, production and cinematography of this one. They made it look so real, that we had people jumping off their chairs like the alligators were coming out for them.
The movie had everyone screaming and shouting all through till the very end, our hearts kept beating fast as we had no clue what to expect and who was going to die next. I am not really a fan of horror movies, but there was something quite nice about this one. I found out that there was a “Crawl” of 2013, which I didn’t have the opportunity of seeing, I guess people preferred this edition to the previous one.
Crawl started with the first scene of a young lady by the name of Haley who was competing with my friends in the pool. We had a bit of flash backs, so you had to pay ardent attention to know if we were in the past or presence, when she got out of the pool she got a call from her elder sister, who was so worried sick about trying to get to their dad but couldn’t reach him on the phone.
He lived in the area that was affected badly by a hurricane. She wanted the sister to try to check up on him and make sure he was okay, little did she know that she was also putting her sisters life at risk, by driving into that flooded area.
The honest truth was that Harley was so determined to go save her dad despite all the warnings by the safety officials of how unsafe the area was. She ignored all the rules and warning and kept driving. She felt sad and guilty that if she lost her dad, she would never forgive herself considering their drifting away as she grew older because of their egos.
The movie went to a whole new level when she finally found him half dead in the basement, went in to save him and they both got trapped with mighty alligators waiting for them to step one foot out of the safe area and get eaten. It was so nice to see her swimming skills come to play here, as she tried to out swim the alligators and fights earnestly to save her life and that of her dad.
You will need to see the entire movie to see all the helpless people who lost their lives to the cruel and dangerous alligators. And of course if Haley and/or her dad made it.

So let me say that this movie was good and exciting, had loads of huge creatures jumping out on us and eating up people, looked scary but wasn’t that bad at all. Atleast for someone like me I didn’t run out of the cinema so that’s a plus. I would award this movie a 7.5/10, for all the horror movie lovers, who love to scream and shout, this might be your movie. I loved the fact that they tried to make it look as real as it could get, gave us a good story and thought is a lesson too.
