Thicker than water is a psychological thriller film following a photojournalist Ese as she searches for her missing, estranged older sister Onome in a remote town, ultimately uncovering a dark body-switch conspiracy.

Sister Onome and Ese grew up extremely close despite financial struggles, abandoned by their father’s family while caring for a sick mother. As they grew older, the pressure mounted; Onome left home to seek her own path,leaving Ese behind to shoulder the burden until their mother passed away. Months later, Ese learns Onome has vanished in the isolated community of illegal Adegbi. Driven by a fierce savior complete, Ese drops everything to find her.
Armed with only Onome’s personal diary, Ese traces her sister’s past steps, which reveals a tumultuous love affair with a man named Ola and a secret local island. Ese connects with a local resident named Kazeem, who helps her navigate the cryptic and hostile environment of the town. Ese experiences strange occurrences, break-ins and buzz are encounters with local figures like a mute, seemingly unhinged local named king, pushing her mental state to the brink.

The narrative’s major twist exposes that Onome was never actually an innocent victim of foul play. Onome was in league with dark forces, using her own journal and fabricated clues as bait to lure her devoted sister Ese to the twin.
Onome’s true goal was to orchestrate a supernatural consciousness and body switch, trapping Ese’s mind and life force in the mirror while Onome takes over Ese’s physical body.
