Son of the soil is an action-thriller film following Zion Ladejo, a dishonorably discharged special ops soldier who returns to Nigeria from the United States to investigate the tragic, suspicious death of his younger sister, Ronke.
Ronke, a struggling hotel worker, witnesses a murder while getting ready for work. She secretly records the event but is discovered and brutally murdered. Her death is quickly covered up by the police as a casualty of a new deadly synthetic drug known as “matrix”.

Zion receives an SOS message from his sister just before her death and returns home. Discovering a compromised police force under commander Obi, Zion bypasses the legal system to uncover the truth himself. His quest for vengeance puts him against a powerful drug syndicate headed by Dr. Baptiste, a seemingly polished medical professional, alongside notorious community gangs.
Zion navigates the dangerous, sprawling slums of Lagos, he ultimately succeeds in bringing down the criminals, it comes at a heavy cost, including the tragic death of his mother, Mama, along the way.
