Coming from Insanity is a crime thriller film based on a true story. The story begins in the mid-1990s when 12-year old Kossi is trafficked across the Nigerian border from Togo. He is sold and ends up as a houseboy for the Martins, an upper middle class family in Lagos.
Growing up as a domestic servant with barley any formal education, Kossi harbors a deep desire for a better life and promises himself that he will only return to Togo when he is wealthy enough to travel in a private jet.

As an adult, frustrated with his dead-end servitude and meager existence, Kossi uses the internet to research ways to make vast amounts of money. He comes across a story about an individual who printed millions of dollars from his home, which inspires him to teach himself the intricate, dangerous art of counterfeiting. Through relentless trial and error and a vital clue provided by one of his boss’s girlfriends involving beauty spray- he manages to create near-flawless counterfeit U.S dollar bills.
Leaving his life as a houseboy, Kossi sets up his own illegal operation. He recruits a few friends to help scale the production, converts his fake dollars to Nigeria Naira and amasses immense, rapid wealth.
As massive amounts of Kossi’s flawless counterfeit money flood the black market and eventually circulate into banks, the bills are ultimately flagged by financial crime authorities. This puts Kossi and his network on the radar of the EFCC(Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. A determined, young EFCC agent named Toye is assigned to the case and stops nothing to bring the counterfeit ring down.

As the authorities close in, Kossi’s criminal enterprise begins to collapse. He is betrayed by some of his black-market associates, who eventually try to eliminate him. Caught between the relentless EFCC detective and the dangerous criminals he associated with, Kossi is forced to go on the run. He orchestrates a drinking scene and successfully evades arrest, ultimately fulfilling his childhood promise by leaving the country on a private jet with a massive fortune in cash.
