Everything is new again is a film that follows Funmi, a 45-year-old interior designer, who spirals into a crisis when her ex-husband throws a splashy influencer wedding with a much younger woman.
Fungi’s world is entirely upended when she watches her ex-husband’s glamorous new marriage dominate social media. Feeling insecure about aging and discarded, she falls into a deep depression. To snap her out of it, her younger, no-nonsense best friend forced her to leave her bed and visit a beach resort.

While at the resort, Funmi has a chance encounter with Ekene, a 28-year-old photographer. What begins as casual flirtation quickly transforms into an unexpected and deeply meaningful connection. This relationship jolts Funmi back to life, forcing her to challenge every assumption she holds about desire, age and second chances.
As their relationship blossoms, Funmi and Ekene face heavy societal judgement, ridicule and interference. Ekene’s friends in particular struggle to accept the romance, as they believe older women belong only in specific “cougar roles”. The couple is forced to confront personal loyalties, traditional Nigerian societal expectations regarding age-gap romances and preconceived notions of who is “allowed” to love whom.
