Max acts as the dominant, controlling planner of the group, which creates underlying friction, particularly with Sara, who often feels overshadowed and infantilized by her best friend.
A heavy tropical storm hits the area, sending a massive rush of seawater and debris into the freshwater cave tunnels. The storm sweeps a hungry, aggressive bull shark into the right subterranean maze.
Stranded in the dark and cold water, the group realized how perilous their route is, amplified by old tensions and rising panic as oxygen levels drop and the shark begins hunting them. As members of the group are picked off one by one, Max m’s poor snap decisions and overconfidence fail to manage the crisis, forcing the quieter Sara to step up and take charge.
