Mission Impossible 6- Fallout (2018),House of Oni experience
Cinemas in Lagos can be a bit rowdy sometimes. People pass comments, chew loudly and sometimes argue. This can be very annoying and it makes me regret coming out to see a movie in the first place, yes it is that annoying.
A while back, I got an exclusive invite by the House of Oni to attend a premiere of Tom Cruise’s latest Mission Impossible at the Genesis Cinema in The Palms Mall, Lekki. Now I will admit that I wasn’t too hyped about going to see another Mission Impossible because the guy, I mean Tom Cruise, is about 60 years. What more does he have to offer? However, I was flummoxed because 60 has never looked good on anybody. Tom is still a total badass!
My experience was totally mind-blowing. It was awesome to walk into a cinema and see people watching the movie attentively with their headsets on. And I was like, “Finally…some peace and quiet”. It was just perfect!. It was almost like Tom Cruise and the rest of the team cast a spell that ensured that everybody will be attentive during the duration of the movie. The decorum of the movie theatre made it possible for me to totally immerse myself in the actions played out.
It was amazing to have Tom Cruis( Ethan Hunt) back. From start to finish he was a delight to behold. If you are familiar with Tom, you will know that he totally is an actor to behold. He adds vigour and excitement to his movies (FYI, he does he own stunts).
Now let us a quick look into the origin of “The Mission Impossible films”. It was adapted from the famed Mission Impossible TV series and first aired in 1996, had a sequel in 2000, then an additional movie in 2006, then in 2011 and 2015 and finally in 2018. Mission 6 was written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie and featured loads of “A” List actors, like Rebecca Ferguson , Michelle Monoghan, Ethan Hunt and others, who were all fantastic if I may add.
Tom Cruise has always been the poster boy for the series, playing Ethan Hunt a badass agent for fictional spy agency Impossible Mission Force(IMF). He brought Ethan back to our screens. At 56, Ethan is still the same badass the World grew to love, although Tom broke one of his legs in order to bring Ethan back to life, the finished product has shown us that the show had to go on. Wow, Tom is the real deal!
Tom and his new partner Walker, played by Henry Cavill, are on a mission to find a man that will unravel the mystery behind some stolen explosives that if allowed to enter into the wrong hands could destroy the country. Ethan Hawke had to put up with Walker’s arrogance and evil attitude; little did he know that Walker was actually sent by the bad guys to come and set Tom up and set free the hardened prisoner that he put in jail some time ago?
Tom was absolutely strong and reliable and he fought so hard to make sure Walker didn’t have his way. So as to avert a disaster that the whole world wouldn’t have forgotten in a while, a nuclear war that will have contaminated the World’s water and caused death. The last scene when Tom had to fight his Nemesis, was toe curling and it had people sitting at the edge of their seats.
What we are really not sure about is whether Tom will feature in one last episode of the Mission Impossible before signing out. Nevertheless, Mission 6 has been done fantastically well; It has grossed over $61.5 m dollars in its opening weekend, making it Cruise’s biggest opening weekend, behind the $64m from War of the worlds and ahead of Mission Impossible II with $58m
For me, I would score this movie a beautiful 10/10, because it totally deserved it. The movie was awesome and perfect; they were really few or no faults to hold it down for. We were extremely thrilled and expectations were met and even surpassed.
You know how you know a good movie? It’s one that you are willing to watch more than once in the cinema, to relish in its goodness. The actions scenes were long yet entertaining and no one got bored. Also, the production was good, and oh…the cast and crew, I can go on and on, they just had everything in detail.
For me, all the boxes were ticked. Therefore, I urge all action movie lovers and fans of Tom Cruise to not miss this movie as it is a 100% recommendation from me. I am certain you would totally enjoy this movie.
