SHANTY TOWN (NETFLIX REVIEW) 2023
I was super excited when I saw the trailer, and some amazing actors, I knew I was in for a good time. Although I am not a great fan of series, the hype was so good, based on the cast, I just had to go check it out. Seeing Ini Edo and Chidi Mokeme in this movie made everyone excited.
So they started the movie and then took us to the future and kept explaining the movie all through. Ini Edo was a twin and long the line, lost her sisters to some bandits. She grew up in the slum, struggling to earn a living, till she lost it all. Well you will need to pay complete attention for you to fully understand this series, which will all add up at the very end. Make sure you wait for the last scene, to witness the fight and drama. I enjoyed the movie and I really felt Scar Face was the real MVP. Scar face worked for the wealthy politicians that invested in the slums in different ways, from drugs, to human trafficking and prostitution, they were to make remittance weekly to the investors, which meant that the girls could serve them there for a lifetime and never pay up their debts. A very revealing story, one you will enjoy.

To my verdict I would score the series 8/10 although it was nice, I felt they some things they could have done a bit better or differently, I must say again that Scar Face was the real MVP in the series and the audience haven’t stopped talking about him and his performance. The locations chosen were very good, the cast totally killed the role, the sound track, the cinematography, the production and twist, got everyone talking. If you do love thriller, drama movie, with a lot of revealing scenes, then “Shanty town” is for you.
