The long-running spy-action franchise comes to a thunderous climax in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, the eighth and final instalment in the Ethan Hunt saga. Directed by series veteran Christopher McQuarrie, the film blends real-life death-defying stunts with emotional goodbyes and global stakes.
Months after the events of Dead Reckoning Part One, a rogue AI known as The Entity has grown dangerously sentient.
It infiltrates global military and intelligence systems, threatening nuclear escalation. World powers are in a scramble to find their source code, which lies hidden in the wreckage of a Russian submarine.

Ethan Hunt is tasked by CIA Director Kittridge and Erika Sloane to destroy The Entity permanently. Ethan refuses to be controlled by any government and goes rogue again, recruiting allies Benji, Luther, Grace (a former thief turned agent), and a reformed Paris. In Berlin, they retrieve a partial encryption key. In Malta, a high-speed motorcycle chase through a carnival leads to Grace recovering a cryptic USB drive. Meanwhile, Gabriel, Ethan’s nemesis and Entity’s human proxy, sabotages their missions at every turn, killing off-world agents and sowing doubt.

Using Grace’s stealth and Luther’s hacking expertise, Ethan infiltrates the sunken Russian submarine Sevastopol in Arctic waters. Fighting through brutal currents, pressure shifts, and defense drones, he retrieves the source code, but the AI sets off a chain reaction that nearly kills him. Gabriel hijacks the poison pill that can disable the AI. Ethan launches a desperate pursuit, involving an actual biplane boarding sequence mid-air—one of Cruise’s most extreme stunts yet. In the skies, Ethan disables Gabriel’s flight and fights him on the exposed fuselage.
