It seems like Mike Ezuruonye is keen on having better produced movies this year, considering the not so good ones of the past to having directed 2 good movies this year, I am sure he must be very proud of himself.
It wasn’t a bad movie at all, earlier this year he directed a movie called “Divorce not allowed” which was also nice, with loads of lessons passed across to couples. This brand new movie revealed a lot about the way most people leaved fake lives in Lagos, always lieing and pretending to be what they were not.
The nice aspect about this movie was the twist and humour that was added all through, the large array of popular and experienced actors made it even better, not forgetting also to commend the new cast, they all did a fantastic job this time. The only issue with this movie like most Nigerian comedy movies as always, is that they never have a good storyline and this one was no exception to that.
The movie was directed by Mike Ezuruonye and had a simple story with popular actors, who played their role well, and it looked like they were living the life. The movie was really hilarious and kept everyone laughing all through, as they were showcasing what really happened in Lagos.
I enjoyed the way the actors took on the role and made it so much fun. The old and new acts played a good role. The locations chosen, cast, crew, and editing was also well done. This was way better than the ones from the past at least they are improving, I can’t fail to commend them, but they just need to have better storylines.
Mercy who played one of the lead roles, was a jobless girl who goes from one expensive restaurant to the other seeking rich guys to trap, unfortunately one day she met her match, a young guy who hear her conversation and thought she was very wealthy decided to chase and date her, only to find out at the tail end that every single thing about her was fake, even to her clothes were borrowed, she had no rich father, no drivers nor cars, no houses, and she even borrowed the bags and wigs when they had a date, it was a total tragedy.
Annie was also being fooled by her so called boyfriend who she thought was very rich, but had no clue, he was putting up with his elder brother who was rich, by helping him clean and maintain the house, you needed to see how that played out at the end when she found out. Mike was also one of the lead actors, he technically had no home, he moved from one girlfriend’s house to another and then ended up in his best friend’s house, when they were not available.
I totally loved the end when his so called girl friend found out that he was fake and ended up dating Nonso Diobi’s uncle who had later divorced his wife, you needed to have seen the shock on his face, when she came out of the kitchen towards, the end of the movie.
Everything about this movie was really funny, almost everyone in the movie lived a fake life except for the Hausa family, who were truly rich, the whole twist and end of this movie, even made it better to behold, I kind of liked it and this was way better than Mike’s movies of 2016, take it from me when I say so. Although there were so many little faults along the line, the movie was just there, with no authentic storyline.
Casting 1hr 50min
To my verdict I score this movie a 5/ 10, it was just there, nothing much at all, none a very good storyline, it was a typical Nigerian comedy movie, with loads of funny cast, but no authentic storyline or lessons to take home, just funny, for me I always insist that you must have a very good storyline, for me to score you well. For the Nigerian comedy lovers, if you want to have a good laugh and nothing to think about, then you can give this a try, not really recommending this.
