When I see movies like this that are based on true life stories, they leave me thinking for days, what to expect from life, how can life be so unfair to simple innocent good people all because they are black, but why? For days I really couldn’t get this movie out of my mind wondering if this is how many people end up in jail, some even end up losing their lives for crimes they knew absolutely nothing about, this is one of those movies that will touch your heart and soul.
The movie was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Destin Cretton and Andrew Lanham, they told a perfect story one that will leave you breathless at the tail end. It gladdens my heart to see Jamie Fox again doing what he knows how to do best and totally killing his role. I adored the storyline, I love the way the cast and crew brought it to life, I loved the suspense and twist all through, I enjoyed the fact that they took us way back and making it look as real as possible, everything was on point and they left no stone unturned. The costumes and makeup looked so real and the consoling happy end was one we all needed to avoid another set of wailing, as a fan of well thought out storylines Just mercy is a movie i never knew i needed, they kept me glued from start to finish despite not having any action or shooting scenes, the movie was brilliant.
Jamie Fox played the lead role as “Walter McMillian” alongside Michael B. Jordan who played the role of “Bryan Stevenson” the community lawyer fighting for the rights of black people who had being wrongly accused of crimes they knew nothing about. Walter was one of those innocent black people that were accused and jailed for years, and placed on the death role to be killed for the death of a young girl he knew nothing about.
Walter was home one night when he was picked and accused of killed a young girl in a restaurant, apparently she was killed by some bandits who went to rob the store. Apparently the police force allegedly connived with a white guy called Ralph Myers to falsely accuse Walter , so that Walter could take Ralph’s place in the prison cell and his sentence be reduced from death role to life in prison as he was a renowned drug addict and a murder, he lied and Walter went to jail for years till Bryan came along to dig up his case and started pleading on his behalf. You will need to see the entire movie to see how the movie panned out and how many black people had lose their because of wrongful convictions.

To my verdict I would score Just Mercy 9/10, it was absolutely fantastic and mind blowing, I totally enjoyed the storyline despite fighting my tears all through the movie especially when they killed his friend Richardson in prison despite him fighting for his country during the war, this movie was heartbreaking and touching from start to finish, for those of you who love true life stories and can fight back tears squarely like me, then you definitely should see this movie as it will leave you spell bound and in tears.
