The Super Mario Galaxy Movie – Animated Movie Review

4 Min Read

Princess Rosalina, the gentle guardian of the Comet Observatory and caretaker of the Lumas, is suddenly taken by Bowser Jr., who seeks to exploit her life-giving powers.

His plan is ambitious and dangerous to harness her ability to create life and channel it into a weapon capable of destroying entire worlds, all in a twisted attempt to impress his father, Bowser, who had previously been defeated by Mario and Luigi and reduced to a weakened state by Princess Peach.

Meanwhile, Mario and Luigi are called to investigate a strange disturbance in Tostarena Town. There, they encounter Yoshi, a friendly dinosaur who had mysteriously hatched in Brooklyn and was chased back into his home world after an incident involving a museum skeleton. As they form an alliance with Yoshi, a Luma sent by Rosalina arrives in the Mushroom Kingdom, seeking help. With Peach and Toad occupied, Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi take it upon themselves to defend the kingdom while also attempting to reform Bowser.

Things escalate when Bowser Jr. lifts Peach’s castle into space in a desperate attempt to restore his father. A battle ensues, and although Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi manage to intervene, the castle is accidentally dropped into the Honeyhive Galaxy. Bowser manipulates Mario into attacking him, which restores his full size, but surprisingly offers to surrender afterward in exchange for the heroes being transported to the Gateway Galaxy. However, before anything can be resolved, Bowser himself is taken by his son, revealing the complicated bond between them.

As the journey continues, the group faces new challenges. A theft leads them to a hidden casino run by Wart, where Peach confronts him and forces him to reveal Rosalina’s location in the Space Junk Galaxy. Eventually, Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, and Toad reunite and enlist the help of pilot Fox McCloud to travel across galaxies. Their mission is interrupted when Bowser Jr. attacks again, temporarily turning Mario and Luigi into babies. With Yoshi’s help, they recover and regain their normal forms.

Back at the Comet Observatory, a deeper revelation unfolds, Peach discovers she shares Rosalina’s cosmic abilities, and that they are in fact sisters, both born from stardust. Rosalina had sent Peach away as a child to protect her from an unknown threat, adding emotional depth to their reunion.

In the final confrontation on Planet Bowser, Mario faces Bowser once more, managing to defeat him even after he rises again in skeletal form. With teamwork from Luigi and Yoshi, and the combined powers of Peach and Rosalina, balance is restored. Rosalina is revived, and together they transform the разрушed world into a new beginning.

The story concludes on a hopeful note as Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi help rebuild Peach’s castle alongside the Lumas and Toads. Peach expresses her gratitude with a quiet, heartfelt gesture, while Fox ensures Bowser and his son are imprisoned before returning to his own galaxy. Peace is restored, and life across the galaxies begins anew.
