Kat Elliott is a young girl who feels lost. She doesn’t have parents anymore; she lives in a run-down little house. Her life is lonely, and she’s haunted by memories. One night, she makes a wish; she wants someone to fight her demons real or not. But she doesn’t know how literal she’ll be taken.

Her wish comes true in a strange way. Two demons, Wendell and Wild (voiced by Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele), appear. They are brothers, mischievous, chaotic, and delightfully weird. They want to open a portal to the underworld, but they also want Kat’s help. They promise her power. They promise to make her feel less alone.

At first, Kat is scared. These demons are not friendly ghosts they’re trouble. But she realizes she can use them. She strikes a deal…she will help them, and in return, they will give her something she’s longed for; a family, a place in the world. As they work together, strangeness and danger swirl. They call on other dark spirits. They plan a big ritual. They walk through graveyards in the dead of night. The moon is always just right.

But Wendell & Wild are not just shadowy figures. They laugh, bicker, and even feel regret. Kat learns their story, where they come from, why they want the portal, and what they lost. She realizes that her own loneliness is tied to theirs. She begins to care for them, in her own way.

The climax arrives on Halloween night. The veil between worlds is thin. They perform the ritual. Kat stands between the living and the dead, her heart pounding. Wendell & Wild call out in voices that echo with longing. Spirits swirl. The ritual almost fails. But Kat’s courage holds. She steps forward, demands change, demands reconciliation.

In the end, something shifts. Wendell & Wild earn a kind of peace. Kat gains a family, though not a perfect one. She doesn’t erase her pain, but she finds purpose. In the closing moments, her silhouette is in a graveyard, standing beside the two demons, looking up at the starry sky. The world feels both haunted and hopeful.
