Love & New notes is a romantic drama set during the sudden 1984 Nigerian currency change. It centers on Boma and Chisom, a young unmarried couple deeply in love but expecting a child. Boma, who previously worked in shipping, loses his livelihood due to strict import restrictions. With old Naira notes abruptly losing value, their financial stress deepens, forcing them into survival mode.

Chisom is an accountant whose job is to count larg sums of money for wealthy clients, including the estate of a powerful family from the 1970s oil bloom. Feeling cornered by their impending parenthood and lack of money, Boma convinces Chisom to orchestrate a daring robbery of one of her wealthiest, elderly clients. They target a massive sum of 10 million Naira.

The robbery goes much deeper than just a simple heist. The story delves into supernatural and spiritual themes, unearthing a dark family history involving the homeowner, Mrs Badamosi. It is revealed that the massive wealth has a complicated, fateful background connected to her past actions, including the tragic deaths of her husband and housemaid over a maid.
As the couple navigates this situation, they find themselves far out of their depth, bringing horror, drama and heist-thriller elements to the forefront. Ultimately, the unfolding events become a tale of destiny, as Boma helps to resolve the spiritual and financial debts tied to the money. The film concludes by exploring themes of love, second chances, sacrifice and growth.
