DINNER AT MY PLACE – NOLLYWOOD MOVIE REVIEW

Dinner at my place is a romantic comedy drama following Nonso. Nonso is determined to make his marriage proposal to his girlfriend, Chioma, absolutely perfect. He cooks a special dinner at his house and prepares to pop the question using a $22,000 ring gifted to him by his deceased mother.

Nervous and jittery about the big moment, Nonso panics and hides the engagement ring in a bowl of egusi soup.

Just as Chioma arrives, Nonso’s dramatic and loud ex-girlfriend, Bisi, unexpectedly shows up at the door asking to crash at his place. Despite Nonso’s attempts to turn away, Chioma, unaware of the romantic history and the hidden ring insists on being hospitable and invites Bisi to stay for dinner.

During the meal, Bisi who is completely oblivious to the proposal plan or the expensive ring inside the soup eats greedily and ends up swallowing the diamond ring. When Nonso realizes what has happened , he is forced into a frantic, hilarious and desperate mission to retrieve the expensive jewelry from Bisi’s stomach without causing a scene with his current girlfriend.

The rest of the film follows Nonso’s comedic attempts to deal with Bisi’s dramatic outbursts and her sudden health complaints, all while keeping Chioma in the dark. The storyline forces Nonso to confront his past and present relationships as he tries to expel the ring and pull off his desired engagement.
