BIRD BOX – HOLLYWOOD MOVIE REVIEW

Bird box is a thriller film following Amal prize Hayes as she navigates a post-apocalyptic world decimated by mysterious entities.

The film unfolds in two alternating timelines: the present day and five years in the past, when the apocalypse first began.

The past(flashbacks)- A mysterious, global wave of mass divides begins, pregnant Malorie survives the initial chaos by taking refuge in a nearby house alongside strangers, they quickly realize that staying indoors with the window completely covered is the only way to stay safe from the entities. To go outside for supplies, you must be completely blindfolded.

The entity does not appear the same to everyone; it takes the shape of the victim’s worst fears or lost loved ones to manipulate them into opening their eyes. Over time, supplies dwindle and the safe house is infiltrated, resulting in the tragic deaths of most of the inhabitants. Malorie eventually gives birth.

The present- Five years later, only Malorie and two children, her son and a girl born to one of the deceased housemates remain. When their safety is compromised, they begin a perilous, two-day journey down dangerous rapids to reach a rumored safe community.

Traveling blindfolded, they must rely solely on their hearing. Along the way, they carry a box of birds, which act as a vital warning system because they chirp loudly whenever the entities are near. Malorie dodges the final traps of an agent of the creatures, they make it to a safe, secluded community located at a school for the blind. Here she tearfully names the children Boy and Girl, and finally lets the birds out of the box, finding safety and a true home.
