After an initial intense exchange to rescue his partner Jane, Daniel goes on the run with the stolen data drives. Meanwhile, an escaped alien entity manipulates events from the shadows alongside Hugo Wakefield, a former wardex employee who defected to run an underground network.
Margaret Fairchild, a sharp television meteorologist in Kansas City, experienced a sudden, strange activation when she was brushed by an alien disguised as a cardinal. During a live broadcast, Margaret abruptly stops giving the weather and begins publicly speaking in an unearthly, binary-coded extraterrestrial language. Recognizing the broadcast as a signal, Daniel and the underground network realize Margaret shares a deep, telepathic connection to the phenomenon, acting as a counterpart to Daniel’s mathematical understanding of the aliens.

Noah Scanland, the ruthless head of wardex, dispatches armed agents and relentless henchmen to capture Margaret and silence Daniel before the secrets leak. Margaret and Daniel navigate close shaves with security forces including a harrowing train-track car collision and converge on a safe destination orchestrated by Hugo: a replica of Margaret’s childhood home built to help her confront her past abduction trauma.
The underground network brings Margaret to a major broadcast station(KCXE) in Kansas City and dumps all 76 years of suppressed extraterrestrial encounter footage onto the global public grid. As military forces and citizens worldwide watch the undeniable proof of non-human life, an old captive alien emerges from a container provided by Hugo.
Daniel translates a final message from the creature to Margaret, who looks into the camera and tells the watching world to simply “listen”, bringing an end to the decades-old secrecy.
