Movie Review – ROGUE ONE
Well I will say that it was quiet difficult understanding and narrating this movie, as it required full utmost 100% attention. Will I say this not a typical Nigerian type of hollywood movies as we tend to get carried away and lost with machines and robots fighting. I will say that at a point I got completely lost I couldn’t really tell who the bad guys were and who the good guys were so didn’t know who needed to die or live. Although I did enjoy it as it wasn’t totally bad, I guess I felt that way because I probably haven’t being following them all through. This is a modification of the old star wars movie and they have being remodeling it since the 70’s. So you can see that it has a very old story line and a huge fan base around the world. Although many Nigerians are not falling heads over heels over this movie like others, some of the star wars fans are really enjoying this movie and have gone to see it over and over again. As we speak in just a span of 3
weeks this movie has already mad over 700m dollars in the cinema alone, if it make a billion it makes it into the top 10 highest grossing movies with over $1b dollars.
The 2hrs 13mins was quiet long and at some points we did look lost trying to understand again. The movie was directed by Gareth Edwards, and featured beautiful acts like Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Wen Jiang, Guy Henry, Forest Whitaker, Riz Ahmed, Mads Mikkelsen and many more. The movie was an action packed movie from the beginning to the end a typical Star wars movie, of back to back fighting scenes. The movie had a perfect blend of suspense, thrill and action, there was really no dull moments apart from when we got lost.
The action was epic and really good.
The movie had a good storyline of where the rebellion made a risk to steal the plans to the death star, setting up the saga to follow. Jyn was to work with a group of men to go find out a secret about the other team who were creating a badly dead weapon that was going to destroy the whole race. Their mission was to find out the secret from her dad who unfortunately was the leader of the other team. The truth was that she hasn’t seen her dad since she was little because he wanted to protect her. She had to proof that her dad who was on the opposite side was creating stuffs to destroy the other team. It was very difficult to proof as he was known as a rebel. He did leave a message for her to show where he had faulted the equipment that was to destroy their enemy. So Jyn had to go to the end, met her dad for the last time before he died, who confirmed to her what he had done to save the people. The action did drag to the last scenes and at the end
Jyn and her team defeated the evil people and then were they able to believe her that her dad wasn’t guilty, but then it was too late. It did end well, so people felt much better.
The high lights for me was when the blind man had to fight and defeat the people who could see. I almost started crying when he died and his best friend who tried to save him also died.
To my verdict I will score ROGUE ONE 8/10.
I feel they really had a good movie, although I am not heads over heels for it and not a star wars fan, I believe strongly that it was a good movie and that they killed it in the action scenes. The movie was amazing, the production, cast, crew, and storyline made it into a good movie. Although I still wonder about this movie, I am so sure all the star wars fans and lovers will really enjoy this movie. So for fans who would like to have a good laugh and a spike of action all through then this is the movie of the week.
