Self Made was absolutely amazing and I enjoyed every bit of it. You know those kinds of movies that teach you loads of lessons along the way especially if you want to start a business. It was awesome and I am definitely going to recommend this one to you most especially if you have a business or you are hoping to start one soon.

This was an inspirational movie based on a true life story a black American woman who started her business from ground zero into a multimillion dollar business.

It was in form a miniseries just about 4 episodes and they were about 40minutes each. The numbers of minutes were equivalent to a normal movie, so you wouldn’t feel it at all.

More over the storyline of Self Made was so interesting there was never a dull moment from start to finish. Self Made is a movie based on the story of Madam C. J Walkers life and her journey as an entrepreneur – how she started her business from scratch, trained her girls that now left her to her competitor.

At some points, her husband cheated on her with her sales girl who he went on to marry after he left her. He also connived and tried to bring her business down what she had really toiled for. She was devastated but made a deliberate effort not to give up but to keep pushing. She was persistent, determined, and consistent and in the long run it paid off as she never gave up despite the bizarre happenings she encountered.

She went through a lot but that didn’t stop her from pressing on when she had issues with her franchise staff. She applied wisdom and empathy to the way she treated her sales force and that gave her credibility in the presence of everyone as she went about empowering more women, liberating them from poverty and making them business owners through the franchisee opportunity.

Cast: Octavia Spencer, Tiffany Haddish, Carmen Ejogo, Blair Underwood, Garrett Morris, Kevin Carroll

Genre: Drama

Director: Janine Sherman Barrois, Elle

Runtime: 190 minutes

Release Date; March, 2020

To my verdict I would score this movie 8/10. I totally loved and enjoyed this movie, the cast, crew, the cinematography, locations and the amazing storyline.

I enjoyed the fact that they had to make it look so real with the throwback scenes. It was amazing! I always enjoy movies that teach me lessons and this is definitely one of those movies. My expectations were met as all the reviews were good. If you do love movies based on true life stories then this will make your day and will be worth your while.
