SNAKE EYES (CINEMA REVIEW) 2021
It was nice to see Henry Golding, the guy from the movie titled “The Crazy Rich Asian”, in this new movie. He played the lead role as “Snake Eyes”, where he displayed great skills and tenacity as a very good fighter. He did put out a very good show, where he fought tirelessly till he won the battle.
I was glad I made out time to see it. I didn’t think they had a very good promotion for the movie as I just bumped into the movie coincidentally and felt if they had spent a bit more on marketing, they could have done better in the cinemas.
Heading straight to the first scene, we saw “Snake Eyes” as a small boy less than 7 years old, and one evening as he was home with his father a group of bad guys walked into their home. After a brief argument his father was killed in his presence. He was so lucky to have made it out alive, as he grew older living on the streets as an orphan. He had to find a way to survive and he did through fighting and winning loads of money. As he grew older he became a very good fighter. He also down everyone he fought with and he had a strategy whereby he pretended to be weak fading off, then suddenly he would set a comeback and bring his enemy down totally.
One day a man comes along with an offer he couldn’t refuse. He promised to help him find the man that killed his father in exchange for the great mysterious pearl he would find in the great Japanese Clan. Snake goes on to earn the trust of Tommy “Storm Shadow” , who took him home to his family and the live with them in their beautiful mansion. Snake eye was so slimy and deceitful he was able to deceive them all and buy their trust and loyalty. You will need to watch the entire movie to see the strategy that he used to penetrate the tight security in the house.

I really enjoyed the action. It was nice to see Henry in a different light playing a good role in an action movie, I have known him to be always cool and gentle. I would score the movie a 7.5/10. The action scenes looked real and interesting from start to finish, although it dragged a bit at the tail end. The movie reminded me of the old time Chinese movies we used to watch way back when we were younger, simple nice story, nice cinematography, action scenes and brilliant cast. If you love action movies, you might want to give this a try.
