The birthday party is a psychological drama that follows a wealthy Greek shipping tycoon hosting a tense celebration on his private island.
Marcos Timoleon is a fabulously rich and aging shipping magnate. Haunted by the past, including the earth death of his son in a plane crash and his own childhood trauma. Marcos brought family, friends and enemies to his private Mediterranean island in 1975. The official reason for the gathering is the 25th birthday of his daughter and sole heiress, Sofia.

Marcos wants to control Sofia’s future and protect his own powerful legacy, Sofia is rebellious and wants independence from her father’s iron grip. Sofia is also in a relationship with a young English writer named Ian Forster whom Marcos views as a threat. Other guests arrive with their own goal, including Marcos’s estranged wife Olivia and his doctor Patrikios.
Marcos gives Sofia an extravagant gift: a white horse dressed up as a unicorn. As night falls, Sofia falls sick during the event, Olivia goes to help Sophia and she confides a major secret to Olivia that she is pregnant.

Olivia reacts with empathy, congratulating Sofia instead of pushing her away. Tensions peaks between the controlling father and defiant daughter. Fireworks light up the island sky, matching the rising conflict. Marcos struggled to accept that he is losing absolute control over the people he loves. The night ends in emotional chaos, leaving the family altered by morning while the resilient patriarch remains standing.
