He once lived life in the shadows smuggling luxury cars across borders to survive. But when his child’s health becomes his only worth, he trades the fast lanes for a far more dangerous road.
Tòkunbò follows the turbulent journey of a reformed car smuggler named Tòkunbò (played by Gideon Okeke), a man who once thrived in the criminal underworld but now desperately seeks redemption. After stepping away from illegal trade to care for his gravely ill daughter, he finds that life outside the shadows is no safer especially when survival demands more than just good intentions.

Broke, desperate, and ignored by a health system tilted against the poor, Tòkunbò is forced to return to crime. This time, however, the stakes are much darker: he becomes entangled in the kidnapping of the daughter of a prominent bank governor, lured by the promise of quick money to fund his child’s treatment. But what seems like a simple operation soon spirals into a twisted power play.
As the plan unravels, Tòkunbò finds himself caught between rival factions his old gang, greedy politicians, and an unforgiving underworld that knows no loyalty. Complicating matters further, he begins to bond with the victim, a sharp and defiant young woman whose presence challenges his conscience and awakens the man he once was.

While evading law enforcement and trying to protect his own family, Tòkunbò is pushed to make impossible choices. In the end, Tòkunbò is not just a crime drama it’s a tragic meditation on fatherhood, desperation, and the weight of past sins. The film combines gritty realism with emotional depth, presenting a man torn between survival and salvation in a society where morality is a luxury few can afford.
