Obara’m is a musical film telling the story of a struggling musician, Oluchi.
As a naive young woman, Oluchi becomes pregnant but initially tries to hide it and moves on to pursue her dreams of singing.
Unwilling to embrace motherhood, she eventually leaves the baby in the care of her father in the village while she relocates to Lagos to start from scratch. For years, she neglects her father’s pleas for help and completely distances herself from them.

Oluchi’s life is shaken when she receives news that her father has passed away. With no one else to care for daughter, Ihunnaya, Oluchi has no choice but to bring her young, sharp-mouthed daughter to live with her in Lagos.
Oluchi struggles to balance her new responsibilities with her music career, Oluchi and Ihunnaya eventually discover a deep, shared love for music but Oluchi makes a critical mistake by hiding her true identity. Instead of telling her she is her mother, she allows Ihunnaya to believe she is her elder sister. As their bond grows, the web of lies begins to unravel causing a deep rift between them. Through navigating their shared grief, forgiveness and love for music, the two ultimately reconcile.
