
PLANKTON: THE MOVIE 2025 – NETFLIX ANIMATION REVIEW
From the favourite childhood cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants universe presents Plankton: The Movie (2025), an animated musical comedy, focusing on Plankton and his computer wife, Karen. The film was released on Netflix on March 7, 2025.
Plankton’s latest attempt to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula fails. Upon returning to the Chum Bucket, he discovers Karen has transformed it into a successful Mexican-themed restaurant.

Frustrated, Plankton burns it down, prompting Karen to remove her empathy chip and embark on a quest for world domination using a massive robotic fortress.
Plankton seeks help from SpongeBob, who uses hypnosis to reveal Karen’s origins as a potato-powered calculator created during Plankton’s youth. Together, they attempt to stop Karen by building a new mech, but she assimilates it. SpongeBob enlists Sandy, Pearl, and Mrs. Puff to install Karen’s empathy chip into Plankton, leading to a change of heart.

The group infiltrates Karen’s fortress. While Karen battles the Gal Pals, SpongeBob and Patrick sabotage the potato-powered engine. Plankton realises Karen is his true “secret formula,” leading to their reconciliation. However, Patrick eats all the potatoes, causing the fortress to crash and restoring Bikini Bottom. The townsfolk, moved by Plankton’s romantic gesture, forgive the couple.
The film features original songs by Bret McKenzie, Linda Perry, and the Mothersbaugh brothers, with a score by Mahuia Bridgman-Cooper.
