Movie Review – ARRIVAL
I would say that Arrival was one of those alien movies with mysteries and myth that one could not completely lay a finger on or understand those kinds of movies that start from the end to the beginning. One that you won’t really get except you listen attentively all through. It was at the very end I got the full picture of this movie. It kind of reminded me of movies you go to watch severally to be able to get a hang of it. The truth was that I didn’t initially understand the movie at the beginning until I got to the end. At some point I didn’t know if we were leaving in the future, past or present, the whole thing got kind of mixed up. It was like any typical alien movie, where something mysterious ship comes from out of space to earth and man cannot really tell or explain what it is or what they want.
The movie ended in a kind of weird way to me so I am guessing they might bemaking a part two. Well for me it will be quiet difficult to recommend this to all as most of Nigerians prefer action or comedy. But in all will say it was an okay movie.
The 1hr 56mins movie looked like a very long time to me maybe because at a point I got bored and almost slept off, or because I didn’t just get the point, but then when I did at the end I was wondering what the producers were thinking when they gave us the end before the beginning, but then you can’t always expect to predict the movie all the time.

The movie featured acts like Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker. The movie had a science-fiction, drama and mysterious twist in it. Arrival had a nice story line in it only if you listed and paid full attention. The movie proper started when 12 mysterious spacecraft appeared around the world, causing fear and panic in every country where they were visible. Their arrival caused different world leaders to come together to agree on what to do to send the space ships back, but to no avail. All the plans to study and understand what they really wanted were to no avail atall. At that point they started to look for professors with gifts of understanding the language of aliens; they found Professor Louise Banks to help them interpret what the aliens were saying, why they were on earth and what they wanted. It took them a while to read and understand what they wanted only to really understand they didn’t come to fight or destroy earth but to pass a message across and then men were going about seeking ways or bombing and destroying them. The truth was that no matter what man tried to do, they couldn’t have even being able to destroy them. The mystery and suspense was really cool and for alien movie lovers then this is the movie for you.
To my verdict for this week it will be quiet difficult for me to rate this movie as I really didn’t get or feel this movie, but then that’s my opinion right. I will say a 6/10 generally because I am not really a lover of movie that tells me the end before the beginning and not an alien movie fan. I will say it was just okay but nothing exceptionally fantastic for me to raise the roof about. I will say the suspense, thrill, production, cast and in depth work was good, because I am yet to see us put a movie like this but then, I am just thinking out loud, hopefully we will get there soon, where we begin to put out mystery, sci-friction, dramatic movies. So if you are up for an alien suspense movie then this is the movie for you.
