From the World of John Wick: Ballerina

3 Min Read

Set between John Wick: Chapter 3 and Chapter 4, Ballerina is a sleek, emotional, and stylized revenge action thriller starring Ana de Armas as a trained ballerina-assassin seeking answers and justice. This marks the first female-led entry in the John Wick universe, expanding its rich mythology.

A young Eve Macarro watches her father, Javier, gunned down by a shadowy cult during a politically motivated hit in Havana. Eve is rescued by the Ruska Roma, a society of ballerinas and killers, and adopted into their fold. As Eve grows, she trains under The Director and Kikimora, mastering both ballet and assassination. Her poise and grace become weapons. Despite warnings from John Wick, whom she meets briefly at the Continental, Eve remains bent on revenge.

Years later, Eve assassinates a high-ranking politician in Amsterdam, only to realize he’s tied to her father’s killers. Clues lead her to Daniel Pine, a lawyer in Prague, who knows the cult’s origins.

While staying at the Prague Continental, Eve is ambushed by cultists. Daniel is killed. Eve rescues his young daughter Ella, now marked by the same killers. The attack deepens Eve’s resolve. Eve discovers the cult’s compound in Hallstatt, Austria, where she is captured and interrogated by The Chancellor revealed to be Daniel’s father. Even more shocking, Eve’s long-lost sister Lena is the cult’s enforcer.
Lena tries to turn Eve against the Ruska Roma. Instead, the sisters battle through a violent, balletic duel inside a candlelit chapel. Eve wins, leaving Lena mortally wounded.
