African Movie Channel (AMC) has launched its 24-hour FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming Television) service, Nolly Africa HD, on Whale TV+. The move expands the reach of Nollywood content to audiences in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Canada, and the United States, including the US Virgin Islands.
With this development, Nolly Africa HD is now available in more territories, adding to AMC’s presence across sub-Saharan Africa, Guyana, and the Dutch Caribbean through its Pay TV platforms. The service is part of AMC’s wider efforts to make Nollywood programming more accessible globally.
Nolly Africa HD streams a selection of Nollywood films, series and original unscripted content produced by AMC’s in-house production arm, AMCOP. The channel mirrors AMC’s Pay TV offerings in content structure but is delivered via internet streaming.
“This continued expansion illustrates just how strong the demand is for Nollywood content globally,” said ‘Yinka Mayungbo, Founding Director of AMC. “Nolly Africa HD delivers premium Nollywood entertainment for FAST audiences; our goal has always been to make high-quality Nollywood entertainment accessible worldwide.”
Whale TV+ is currently available on various TV brands through Whale TV models and is set to roll out on additional platforms. The service enables users to stream live and on-demand television at no cost.
Viewers in the five countries now have easier access to Nollywood’s growing catalogue through Whale TV+. This launch creates more opportunities for audiences to connect with stories and experiences from across Nigeria’s film industry.
AMC operates three 24-hour channels: African Movie Channel HD, AMC Series, and Nolly Africa HD. Its FAST service is distributed on 15 platforms, including Freeview in the UK. The company’s original productions continue to grow, with hundreds of movies and thousands of hours of programming already developed.
