Movie Review – BLUE STORY

Although there wasn’t loads of marketing for Blue Story and not all cinemas have the rights to air this movie, especially the ones in Africa, I was glad that I was privileged to have seen this simple, yet exciting and intriguing movie that was based on a true-life story. It was about a young guy who was born and brought up in London. They tried to relive and tell the story of how young guys join bad groups and get killed every day, thereby causing pain for their parents. I totally enjoyed the story and enjoyed every bit of it so if you are available to catch this movie before it leaves the cinema, make sure you watch and enjoy the touching story and how they made us almost cry with the tragic end.

The movie was directed and written by Andrew Onwubolu. With a simple story, nice cinematography, production, connectivity and an amazing crew, although most of them were new acts. They did put out a very good show and made it look so real, I had to fight back my tears at the end and convinced myself that it was just a movie.

To the story which was basically around two young guys who became best friends from junior school to senior schools but lived in 2 different areas of the city. “Stephen Odubola”  known as Timmy in the movie and Michael Ward referred to as Marco in the movie. Macro had an older brother who was in a bad gang but had a way of protecting his kid brother and Macro in turn protected his friend. Timmy had fallen in love with a pretty girl in his class and he decided to stay off all bad friends for fear that he might lose her. His friends were not happy about it and tried to do everything to get him back. One day during one of the gang fights one of the guys from Timmy’s hood kills Macro’s brother gang member and this was when the war started.

They actually thought that Timmy was part of them and took the fight to their area, this fight got dirty and this was when the movie moved on to the next dimension. I must advice stay calm and patient till the very end the movie is very slow and boring at the beginning and if you don’t listen attentively you might miss out. The action and fun part if this movie is at the very end and at that point you will see all the lessons that needed to be passed across as you fight back tears from rushing down.

Cast: Khali Best, Michael Ward, Stephen Odubola

Genre: Drama

Director: Andrew Onwubolu

Written by:  Andrew Onwubolu

Ratings: NR

Runtime:  91 minutes

Release Date: November 2019

Well to my verdict I will say 7/10 it was a good movie that was well written and scripted. The cast played their roles perfectly well, making it look so real. I took some lessons away; some about life and why you must trust, love and forgive your friends no matter the circumstances because one day they will be no more. I really did enjoy the story and for those who like British drama movies, you surely will enjoy this, if you pay attention and wait patiently till the very end.
