THE WILLOUGHBYS – ANIMATED MOVIE REVIEW

The Willoughbys is a dark, satirical animated comedy film about four neglected siblings-Tim, Jane and the twins Barnaby and Barnaby.
The willoughbys were once an esteemed, adventurous family, but the current parents, Walter and Helga, care for each other. They continuously abuse and neglect their four children, locking them in the coal cellar and depriving them of food.

When the children take in a mysterious orphaned baby they find on their doorstep, their infuriated parents kick all five of them out of the house, demanding they get rid of the infant. The children drop the baby off at the colorful candy factory owned by commander Melanoff. To escape their misery, they decide to become orphans themselves. They craft a fake travel brochure full of highly lethal destinations and present it to their parents, who immediately leave on the trip.

Left on their own, they struggle until a Nanny hired by their parents arrives. Meanwhile the parents survive the deadly destinations but realise they are broke. Unwilling to return home, they sell their house and tell the Nanny they are abandoning the children.

Tim finds out, prompting Orphan services to arrive and delegate the children into different foster homes. Desperate to get his siblings back, Tim runs away as ends up trapped by Orphan services. The Nanny, with the help of commander Melanoff, rescues Tim. In the end, the children are officially adopted by Nanny and Commander Melanoff, crating the loving family they always wanted.
